Artist Spotlight
My inspiration for this series is drawn from the love of travel and adventure; responding to the immediate people, culture and surroundings. The journey has taken me from the Central highlands in Mexico, to Seville and Cordoba in Spain and finally to Varanasi and Rajasthan in India this year.
The Festival of the Day of the Dead in Mexico is a joyous moment of celebration of the deceased. The procession comes alive with the tradition of people in costumes filled with colours.
In India, it’s an explosion of colours in their saris, the tradition of gifting flowers and bathing in the sacred river of Ganga.
The colourful flamenco dancers and their gorgeous dresses were a memorable sight to behold. I love their amazing movement, tapping feet and clicking fingers, with such grace.
It was a feast for all senses - sight, sound, smell and taste. I hope you enjoy the journey with me.
So stoked to be a finalist in this year’s KAAF art award
